"Rescue" Art with a second chance
In a world overflowing with excess and constant consumption, countless pieces of art end up forgotten in junkyards and seconds sales, like the last slice of pizza at a party—overlooked and dismissed.
As a middle-aged white guy, I often find myself reflecting on the nature of value and worth—both in art and in life. I empathise with these discarded pieces; after all, I know what it's like to be tossed aside like a pair of dad jeans that no one wants to wear anymore.
"Rescue" is my artistic response to this realisation. This series embodies my mission to breathe new life into art that has been neglected and forgotten—kind of like that plant I keep promising to water. Each piece I select is a testament to resilience, and through careful reworking, I aim to reveal the beauty and stories hidden beneath layers of neglect.
Every artwork in the "Rescue" series represents a journey—both for the piece itself and for me as an artist. It’s about transforming the discarded into something splendid, showcasing that even what seems lost can be rejuvenated and celebrated. So, if I can turn a rusty old frame into a conversation starter, then maybe there’s hope for that old gym membership I keep ignoring!
Through "Rescue," I hope to inspire others to look at the world with fresh eyes, encouraging them to find joy in the unexpected. Remember, even what seems like junk can have a dazzling comeback—just like my high school hairdo!
So let’s celebrate the beauty of second chances, because every piece—like every person—has a story worth telling and a beauty waiting to be unveiled (even if it takes a little elbow grease and a lot of laughter).
