Unveiling “Chalk & Pees”: A Bold Artistic Statement

Art has a unique way of challenging perceptions and igniting conversations. My latest installation, “Chalk & Pees,” takes this concept to the streets in a playful yet provocative manner. Inspired by the whimsical nature of my chalk artwork featuring man's best friend (MAWG BFF), this project invites viewers to engage with the urban environment in a fresh, humorous way.

The Concept Behind “Chalk & Pees”

At the heart of this installation is the MAWG BFF character. The image of a BFF urinating on a fire hydrant captures a moment of spontaneity and humour, reflecting the often-overlooked quirks of daily life. By using stickers and micro posters of this artwork and placing them at eye level on bollards, poles, and other urban fixtures, I aim to create unexpected encounters that prompt smiles and perhaps even a moment of reflection.

Location, Location, Location

The journey of “Chalk & Pees” begins in the vibrant streets of Perth, Western Australia. This city serves as the inaugural canvas for the installation, where the MAWG BFF stickers will first make their playful debut. But this is just the beginning! Throughout 2025, I plan to take this whimsical project on the road, installing the artwork in every city I visit. From the bustling streets of Singapore to the romantic avenues of Paris, the historic charm of Frankfurt, the stylish corners of Milan, the dynamic energy of London, and the cultural richness of Brussels, each location will add its unique flair to the installation.

Who knows where else this project might take me? The possibilities are endless, and I’m excited to see how different urban landscapes and diverse communities will respond to the playful interruption of everyday life. Each new city will offer fresh interactions and experiences, enriching the narrative of “Chalk & Pees” as it travels across the globe.

Community Engagement

“Chalk & Pees” is not just an artistic endeavor; it’s an invitation to the community.

I encourage everyone to share their experiences with the installation on social media, capturing their reactions and the moments they encounter the artwork. This interaction not only amplifies the reach of the project but also fosters a sense of community around shared experiences and laughter.

As “Chalk & Pees” unfolds, I invite you to explore, discover, and delight in the unexpected. Keep your eyes peeled for the MAWG BFF stickers, and let them spark joy in your day.

If you spot a sticker or a micro poster, snap a picture and share it with the hashtag #ChalkAndPees. Let’s spread the laughter and creativity, one fire hydrant at a time!

The Importance of Humour in Art

In a world that can often feel heavy, humour serves as a vital tool. “Chalk & Pees” embraces the lightheartedness of life, reminding us not to take ourselves too seriously. Art has the power to break down barriers and create connections, and I hope that this installation brings joy and a sense of playfulness to you as you encounter it.

Join the Movement

If you’d like to see “Chalk & Pees” travel to your neighborhood, I’d love to hear from you! I can provide a pack of stickers to keep the installation going in your area. Feel free to reach out to me, the author, at info@peterg.studio. Together, we can spread the joy and whimsy of this project even further!

Footnote: Despite my identity as Middle Aged White Guy (MAWG) who identifies as Anti-Woke, I hold a deep appreciation for our community and the environment. Where possible, I am committed to sustainability, as evidenced by the fact that every sticker and micro poster used in this installation is compostable.

Ps) This installation is dedicated to "Romeo" may he RIP.
